ONYX SUMMIT CHALLENGE
June 9, 2018 @ 7:30 am (roll at 0800!)
Not sure what the difference is between a "Hilly" & "Rolly" ride ?
Meet BCI for a climb from the Thurman Flats Picnic Area toward Onyx Summit on Hwy 38
( elevation 8,443' ) !
Riding in our local mountains can be beautiful, and while the climbs can be long, they are typically not any steeper than our regular BCI routes. Not sure? Try Challenge I - you will get a taste of mountain riding and a non-stop downhill back to the start. If you feel good when you get to Angelus Oaks, keep going for the Challenge II turnaround. Still feeling good? Go all the way to the top! It's your choice and you can turn around anywhere along the route.
Three routes to choose from: 1/2 up, 1/2 down!
Challenge I: Turn around at Angelus Oaks - 17 miles, 2,300' Map/Profile
Challenge II: Turn around at Greyback Amphitheater - 35 miles, 3,800' Map/Profile
Challenge III: To Onyx Summit & back - 55 miles, 6,400' Map/Profile
Bring your own picnic lunch & favorite beverage to enjoy at the top of the summit. SAG will drive it up there for you!
