Bear Training Rides Begin March 1

This year, BCI Will again be offering a training series to help riders prepare for the OC Wheelmen's Ride Around the Bear century. This year's RAB will be held on Saturday, 6 June. Even if you do not plan to do the Bear, this series will help prepare you for long rides and mastering long climbs.
The series will include at least 8 Sunday sessions and some remote rides as well. We will meet every other week for the next three months. Randy Profeta, endurance racer and Ride Coordinator for BCI, will be leading the group. Randy will share information about bike prep, nutrition, hydration, and electrolyte replenishment.
To sign up, please email Randy Profeta at ridecoord@bikeirvine.org.

Welcome

Welcome to the BCI's Website. The Bicycle Club of Irvine is a recreational and social cycling club for men and women of all ages and skill levels. We have been an active club for over thirty years, and our members are all ages, shapes and sizes. Our main goals are to have fun and make new friends along the way. You do not have to become a member before riding with us. Just come and see if the club is a good fit for you, and you can then become a member if you feel a connection. We are a very social club and think you will enjoy the friendliness and opportunity to spend time with new-made friends. If you do choose to ride with us we do recommend that you follow a few common sense guidelines
  • Wear you helmet.
  • Insure your bicycle is road worthy.
  • Leave the ear buds at home.
  • Obey ALL traffic laws.
  • Have fun.
We look forward to seeing you at Deerfield Park on Irvine Center Rd between Yale and Culver. Check out our ride schedule and please join us.

'The Law' Ignorance is no excuse ...
Club Founder Bill Sellin and Irvine Police Sergeant Troy Gielish - (who is active with the City's Safe Routes to School program teaching middle school students about safe bicycling, and an avid bicyclist himself) will tackle the California Vehicle Code, and local Irvine ordinances, that are important for understanding the rules of the road. We will discuss the common and obscure application of the CVC to our being in traffic, and reveal the safest and riskiest behaviors bicyclists demonstrate.
We will also share manners and etiquette that will help establish our sharing the road in the best ways highlighting the aspects of side walk riding, trail riding, edge riding and bicycle driving, an open discussion will explain the things we should know and practice when we are "playing in the streets".
Location: Irvine Ranch Water District Community Room

Sun Sep 27, 2015 7 days - Biking Tour of Spokane Washington

What makes Spokane, WA the ideal location for our 2015 cycling, hiking and fun adventure?

Here's what Visit Spokane has to say, "A vibrant city, a roaring river, a gateway to the American west. Since its first days as a rail hub, Spokane has stood as a destination city immersed in natural beauty. Book a whitewater adventure, bike the beautiful Centennial Trail or hike through countless nature preserves. But it's not just about the outdoors! Taste Washington's renowned grapes and hops at any number of local wineries and craft breweries."

As a fellow cyclist, here's what I think will impress you... Spokane's natural beauty and the broad valley where it resides. The many dedicated bicycle and hiking trails adjacent to the hotel. A 2-state bicycle tour which includes beautiful Coeur d'Alene, Idaho as one of our many destinations. Enough after-ride activities to make you do a happy dance. Plus, you can buy this terrific jersey to remember the trip by.

Follow the link below for more information.

We'd love to have you and your friends join us on this outstanding 7 day bicycling adventure funding the good works being done by Big Brothers Big Sisters OC.
