Summer Ride Start Times

Sunday rides for July and August from Deerfield Park begin at 8:00 AM to avoid the heat.

Welcome

Welcome to BCI's Website. The Bicycle Club of Irvine is a recreational and social cycling club for men and women of all ages and skill levels. Please come and check out our rides and events, read about our history, becoming a member, and find out what's new at BCI.
You do not have to become a member before riding with us. Just come and see if the club is a good fit for you, and you can then become a member if you feel a connection. We are a very social club and think you will enjoy the friendliness and opportunity to spend time with new-made friends. We ask you to wear a helmet and when you arrive at the park, sign in on the guest sign-in sheet. Route information is available to the left side of this page.

Sun Aug 10, 2014 6:30 PM - Special Luna-tic ride

This is the 3rd year for this popular ride, which includes 2 miles of easy hard-packed dirt trail riding through Peters Canyon Regional Park, and a loop around Irvine Regional Railroad Park. (Bicycles get in the park for free!) Dinner stop at Taco Bell.

You do not need a mountain bike or knobby tires for the trail portion, but I recommend a bike with wider tires. An alternate route option will be provided for anyone on a road bike, but you will miss a very scenic part of the ride. We will easily complete the dirt trail before the sun sets.

This ride is likely to take you on some bike trails you have never ridden. Bring out your mountain/comfort/commuter bike and enjoy an off-road adventure! Sunset is 7:43pm and moon rise is at 7:37pm. Ride distance will total 27.5 miles. Headlights and taillights are required to participate in this no-drop ride. Loaner lights can be arranged. Questions: email to bob@bikeirvine.org.

Thu Aug 21, 2014 7:00 PM - General Meeting tantalizing new bikes

General Meeting - Sorry - no dinner for this meeting but let us know if you want dinner this in the future. We try to get important speakers at the meetings and need to encourage members to attend.

The Italian Job

Come see two lesser known high end bicycle and component manufactures. LEGEND by Bertoletti are fully custom handmade bicycles manufactured in Northern Italy by Marco Bertoletti, who has been building frames since the 1980s. Marco continues to make a range of frames for pro peleton riders who cannot get the performance they need from Made in Taiwan geometries. The bikes are known for their high performance and beautiful finishes, particularly in carbon and titanium. Miche (FAC Michelin) is older than Campagnolo and has recently extended its range of high performance Made in Italy components. The brand focuses on drive trains and wheels for road, track and mountain bikes. Ian Jackson of Tartanian (U.S. Distributor) of these brands will be showcasing these bikes and components at our meeting.

See you there!!
