Can you believe it’s almost the holidays again?
It is usually time to impress your BCI friends with your culinary skills at the BCI Holiday Potluck feast - but since we still won’t be gathering, plan on a virtual party at 6pm on December 5th !
Wear an ugly holiday sweater - and you may win the the ‘honor’ of being laughed with
Show off a cookie in the Cookie Competition & we will all groan with envy as you eat it
Contribute to the BCI CookBook - Submit one or a few Potluck or Baked Good recipes to be added… Any format; Word, Text, fax, pdf, you can even take a picture of your grand mother’s tattered & splattered recipe card and send it to CookBook@BikeIrvine.org
We have supported local charities each year, and have identified 3;
Working Wardrobes, Families Forward and The Bicycle Tree.
We ask each person to make an online donation to help fund these local programs.
Working Wardrobe’s Irvine location was gutted by fire this year but they are reopened and rebuilding their services and outreach to help clients get back to work with interview and job skill training, as well as getting their clients set up with sharp interview and working attire. Here is their web site: https://www.workingwardrobes.org/ and they can use donated clothing as well as financial support.
Families Forward is a nonprofit organization that assists families in Orange County who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. They appreciate donations of gift cards, toys or other items, and we are sure they will have a way of accepting financial donations. Here is a link with information about this charity: https://preview.tinyurl.com/FamFrwrd
The Bicycle Tree is a nonprofit community bike center and shop in Santa Ana. One of their missions is to refurbish bikes and donate them to those in need. They collect used bicycles, bicycle parts, gently worn cycling clothes and accessories for this purpose. Clean out a closet or garage & bring them a load! This year they need help just to pay the rent, so consider giving some support financially. Here is a link to their website: http://www.thebicycletree.org/
Thank you in advance for your generosity. We look forward to seeing you at the virtual holiday party!
No need to RSVP as Zoom can handle a lot of people - but if you have ideas on fun contests or games to play, please contact Hospitality Director Sally Salmon !
